VanderKloot, Edith “Weeda”

Be the first to share your memories or express your condolences in the Guest Book for Edith “Weeda” VanderKloot.

Edith VanderKloot passed away at her Millarville home on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the age of only 76.
Edith was born in the Netherland Antilles (Curacao). During her childhood, she lived across the street from a lovely boy who eventually became her doting husband of over 56 years – a real fairytale!
Following her immigration to Montreal, Canada, she then moved with Peter to Toronto and began her career as a Lab Technologist. She later worked at the cancer clinic in Ottawa.
Edith then went back to school where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, cum laude from the University of Ottawa in 1985 where she specialized in contemporary and creative photography. She also obtained her Master of the Photographic Arts (MPA) from the Professional Photographers of Canada in 2000.
As a professional photographer for over 20 years, she also developed her artistic talents and expressed her passion through various art mediums over the years, including fine art photography, mixed media, slate, painting and textured mixed media.
In addition to winning many awards for her photography and receiving many accolades for her artwork, she also participated in many exhibitions and organized two major art shows.
As an avid traveler, she was lucky enough to tick off some items off her bucket list, including two recent photographic adventures; the Spirit Bears in BC and a Wild Animal Safari in Botswana, South Africa.
Always active in the arts and in the community, Edith will be most remembered for her passion, her enthusiasm, her joie-de-vivre and her love and support for her family.
Edith will be missed by her life-long sweetheart and husband Peter, son Mark (Houy), daughter Hayley (William), grandchildren Jinseng and Justin and several nieces and nephews in Canada and in Holland.
She is predeceased by her mother Adriana and her father Jacob and survived by her brother Rudy.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to an animal rescue organization in her memory.
A memorial and celebration of her life will be planned for this summer to enjoy her artwork and legacy. Notifications will be sent out by email at a later date.
