Seliga, Camiel – of Ridgetown, passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham, on Friday January 12, 2018, at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Guyitt) Seliga for 54 years.
Loving father of Charlene and husband Jim Chalmers, Mary Lynne and husband Clark Aitken, Deb and husband Jamie Long.
Cherished and much loved grandfather of Carly, Joel and wife Emma, and Justin Chalmers; Neil and Deanna Martin, Gill, Karen and Jared Aitken; Hope, Adrianna and Wade Long.
Brother of Joe and Betty Seliga, Paul and Joyce Seliga, Mary and Dave Lenover.
Brother-in-law of Peter Guyitt, Catherine Moore, and Pam Guyitt.
Uncle Camiel will be missed greatly by his many nieces and nephews who share special memories of “going to the farm.”
Predeceased by his parents Paul and Josefa “Jessie” (nee Dohnansky) Seliga.
Camiel was a steward of the land spending his entire life farming, along with being a loving father, proud grandfather and devoted husband. He was a lifelong and active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Ridgetown and in earlier years was very involved with the Czechoslovakian-Canadian Club in Blenheim.
Visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St. East, Ridgetown, on Monday January 15, 2018, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The Funeral Mass for Camiel will be shared at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday January 16, at 11am. Cremation to follow with interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in memory of Camiel may be made to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation – Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign (CT Scan), the St. Michael’s Catholic Church Restoration Fund or a charity of your choice.
