Frederick Barned

To some he may be forgotten
To others a part of the past
But to those of us who loved him
His memory will always last
Fred was born and raised in London, Ontario, and often reminisced of his summers on the lake at Point au Baril. Fred is predeceased by his mother and father, Ferne and Frederick; grandparents, Mabel and Frederick; and his aunt, Jean.
Fred was a proud member of the RCMP for 25 years, serving in PEI, Ontario, Saskatchewan, the Yukon and retiring in Edmonton in 1976. Land development & planning, and real estate were his careers after that.
Fred enjoyed a good game of golf or, even better, a fishing trip, particularly if it took him to Vancouver Island or Florida, and his love for the Rocky Mountains rubbed off on all of us, so Jasper was always a favorite family vacation spot. Fred had a good-natured sense of humour, was a great story teller, and always a true gentleman.
Fred is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his children, Teresa (Ken) Boyda; Fred Jr., Sandra, Dan and Jody. He was most proud of his grandchildren, Victoria Barned and Justin Boyda.
At Fred’s request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place and burial will take place in the Barned family plot in London, Ontario. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army – Alberta & Northern Territories Divisional Headquarters, 9618 – 101A Avenue, Edmonton, AB, T5H 0C7.
